Codenames

760 new words today.

Was also productive on CritiqueCircle, receiving crits, giving two crits, submitting the last chunk of MH part 1, forum posting, etc. The words I wrote may get cut. They ballooned into an unexpected action sequence that I’m only lukewarm about (but don’t hate). We shall see!

Unrelated: I want to talk about codenames. Before 2014, having actual, serious codenames for stuff wasn’t something I thought I’d really get to do. Sure, I might use them jokingly or for a lark… but never for a real thing. Then I started longer writing projects. I rarely start a piece knowing what the title will be, so I have a pre-title name for it until the real one comes to me. Hence, codenames!

  • THE MOUNTAIN DANCER was “Tomecliff” for the longest time.
  • THE CHILDSEEKER’S WAR was “Falsesparker” for even longer.
  • HUNTING MIDNIGHT is still labeled as “Midnight Hands” in my file system.
  • “Chillcrafters,” will unexcitingly become THE CHILLCRAFTERS OF CULDUR … or will it?!

I dunno, I think it’s neat. That’s all!
