Author’s notes

Warning: Mild Spoiler Alerts below.

To date (January 2018), this was the most difficult episode to write. I had this foresty, vine-related scenario in my head and it needed to either be written or abandoned entirely. I had some good scenes in mind and/or drafted, and many crappy ones seemed to latch on and drag the story. Many cuts, many revisions. This one also required the most research to date, due to some police procedural sneaking its way in.

It ended up longer than planned (about the same size of Episode One, which I intended to be the longest and have all following episodes be about 15,000 words, like Ep2), but I am very pleased with the path it took, and the way it ends.

And so far, it seems like Episode Four is rolling along much more smoothly, but then again Ep3 did start off quick and stall in the classic midzone. Time and daily blogs shall tell!
